Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Program

Promoting health and safety for informal and agricultural workers

CAHESH promotes the Integration of approaches that include promoting informal and agricultural workers’ health and safety as fundamental in ensuring decent and productive lives and boost rural and community development for workers in the informal sector. The Occupational Safety and Health program designs measures and strategies to prevent, control, reduce or eliminate occupational hazards and risks for the development of established and sustainable informal businesses. This program also ensures that women working in this industry are well protected, their voices are heard and that they are economically empowered. Women working in the informal business sectors face a lot of challenges including sexual and verbal violence, hazardous working conditions coupled with lack of social protection.

This program also provides training, awareness campaigns, and advocacy to ensure safer workplaces and empower workers to demand their rights. By focusing on both prevention and empowerment, CAHESH helps build resilient communities and sustainable informal businesses.
